Dell Inspiron 530, video card upgrade

Hello everyone,

I just replaced the failing motherboard in my Dell Inspiron 530, with the same model, G33M02,because an aftermarket board wouldn't work, due to the I/O shield not being removable. and currently looking for a video card upgrade to watch Netflix and YouTube videos in HD format. I don't plan to game with this computer, it was a freebie given to me by a friend, and I'm using it as a spare. The PSU is a 300watt Bestec model. And, processor is an Intel Celeron 420 Conroe-L Single-Core @ 1.6ghz with 2 GB dual-channel memory, 80gb hard drive. I don't plan to spend no more then $50 dollars. Any suggestions?

monitor goes into power saving mode

Hello,

My monitor randomly goes into power saving mode and doesn't snap out of it unless I turn off my PSU and restart the computer. It's very frustrating, especially since I just built my PC, and don't want any components to be damaged.

This is the monitor I have:

E2414H (digital-DVI)

gpu : gtx 970

The drivers to my gpu and monitor are up to date. I have went through all of the windows power settings to "never sleep" and never turn off my monitor. The problem only primarily when I'm in a game, but has occasionally occurred when I'm on the desktop. I honestly think it's a problem with my monitor because my computer used to not do this, but I'm open to any ideas, and help with troubleshooting.

Is there a way to completely turn off power saving mode? I've read similar posts after Google searching and this seems to be a consistent problem with dell monitors.

Hi there,

just one question:

I want to buy a DELL XPS 8900. I own already a DELL U2515H display (never want to miss it ;-).

My actual Desktop includes a graphic card with display port - it works fine.

The GEFORCE NVIDIA GTX 745 which is included in the XPS8900 doesn't have a DP.

How to connect the display to the XPS 8900 to run the display in native Mode at 2560x1600 pix and 60 Hz (WQXGA)?

Thanx for each hint!

Jörg

Hello guys!

I have a Dell Optiplex 3010 and I have recently installed Windows 7 on it.

I have also installed the drivers and everything works fine, except the video driver, and I cannot get rid of the black bars around my monitor. I know it is a scaling problem and I've read on some forums that this could be fixed easily using  catalyst, but I cannot install it.

Please help.

U2312HM, works on PS3, not on computer?

Hi,

I am a loyal Dell user personally, being owned alot of Dell products like laptop, monitor and etc.

Recently, i have this problem with Dell U2312HM (my best monitor for using around more than 3 yrs and counting..), i just purchase a HDMI to DVI cable from ALL IT store and use it for PS3 and it works out great.

But, the problem starts when i connect back my Dell U2312HM to computer or PC it when save mode and wouldn't work (blank screen).

And i did try to check is not the monitor fault because i use again and again PS3 no problem.

I am guessing is the 24pin and 18pin here ( i could be wrong) because the HDMI to DVI cable is using full 24 pin and our pc or computer are using 18pin (without the middle 2 row).

Any idea?

I have a Dell Precision T1650 with an internal NVIDIA graphics adapter.  I want to remove the internal card and use only the built-in VGA.  When I remove the card and plug in a VGA cable it doesn't work.  I don't see any configuration to enable the internal VGA.  What could I be missing?

Thanks

Hi,

What cable do I need to connect my old E228WFP Dell 22" monitor to my new XPS 8900 PC?  The monitor has 15 & 24 pin female connections and the PC has HDMI and DisplayPort connections connection.  And one 24 pin female connection for which I'm not sure the purpose.  Excuse my ignorance...

Thanks...

XPS One 2710 graphics card failure

I think the video card in my My DELL XPS One 2710 (05/10/2013) all in one computer has failed. When powered up, I get the initial DELL screen, but before it launches windows the screen flashes 100% green, then red, then white, then blue (not in this order), then vertical bars, then horizontal bars, then the same pattern repeats. I called DELL support and they identified the video graphics part number as "57YTM" but said they did not carry\offer a replacement part. They suggested I try ebay or amazon.

#1 I'm not 100% sure that it's the video card, but it looks that way. The machine did recently update to windows 10, but I can't imagine it's a compatibility issue, right?

#2 If it is a bad card, I'm very surprised that DELL would not provide a replacement part.  Does that seem odd?

Anyone else have these symptoms? if so, how did you fix it? I can't seem to find a replacement video card anywhere to try...

I have the above mentioned computer.  I have a cable connecting my notebook to the ONLY VGA port in the back of the computer.  There is no button above the power button on the side of the computer to toggle through the video display options.  How do I get the video to transfer from my notebook to the Inspiron 2320?  Thank you.

Dell U2715H intermittently goes black for 2 or 3 seconds and the resumes normal state

Hi,

I bought a Dell monitor a week ago and now my monitor is constantly going black and resuming

It's connected to a GTX970 through your mDP-DP cable and I really don't know why this is happening because I have a dual monitor rig, and the other monitor isn't going constantly black.

I'm using Windows 10, I don't know if that could be a factor, but this situation is quite annoying.

Thank you

Inspiron 3847 Solid Flashing Colors

Hi,

A friend recently bought an Inspiron 3847 tower. I helped set up the computer and install some software. I left. I planned to come back after MS Office finished installing. At some point the screen started rapidly flashing bright solid colors.

Pressing keys on the keyboard didn't make it stop. I tried unplugging the monitor. I heard Windows play the device disconnect sound so I guess the operating system wasn't frozen. I tried powering off and on the monitor. I pressed the power button to put the computer to sleep. I assumed the computer was set to go to sleep if the power button is briefly pressed. I thought doing that might help if the problem was graphics driver related. I woke up the computer, saw the Dell logo, and again saw the rapid bright flashing of solid colors. I tried putting the computer to sleep and waking it a couple more times. I found that wouldn't help so I held down the power button to switch off the computer. After switching on the computer the flashing didn't happen and Windows normally started.

What caused the flashing? How do I fix it? We need this computer to work correctly and be reliable.

The XPS 8700 system is all Dell including both monitors. When going dual was first done everything went well. A few "upgrades" from Win 10 later the dual system crashed anytime the second monitor was attached. The event log shows "windows\system 32\drivers\ks.sys"

Updated video drivers from  Dell download OK but will not install. I'm stumped.

I have tried to update the bios, chipset and latest Intel drivers from Dell (On one of the machines I did try the intel drivers with no luck). So far I have had to rebuild the machines and hope the issue doesn't return. Has anyone experienced this issue? Dell warranty support didn't help, as we are using enterprise software the official response from the support manager I spoke to was:

"We don't fully test Windows Enterprise and we would need to revert back to Windows Professional to see if the issue returns" - This surprised me and I expressed my concerns and recent disappointment in support from Dell.

We also had the option to pay Dell for their advanced software support team, I was surprised as this fault only developed after windows updates (day after).

Thanks. Rich

I'm looking to put a GeForce GTX 980 ti in my XPS 8900. Just upgraded the PSU to a Corsair AX760, link below. I'm just wondering if this will run alright, ventilation wise and everything. Has anyone else put this card in their 8900? If so how does it run.

Vostro 460 graphics card upgrade

Hello,

I have a Vostro 460 and I wanted to upgrade the graphics card. I just bought a Gygabye with nVidia GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 card assuming it was going to work fine on this PC. Wrong assumption. It simply does not boot. It displays the initial POST but it doesn't go past it.

This video card is PCI-e 2.0. I tried to check prior to the purchase the PCI-e version of the Vostro's motherboard and with big effort I found in one the posts of this forum that it's 2.0 (it doesn't say anywhere, motherboard or manuals). Also, the minimum hardware requirements are met: minimum 300W power supply: the stock PSU is 350W. Cool!  But no so cool, it's not working.

The BIOS's firmware is up-to-date. I can't figure out what's the problem as the card is compatible with the motherboard. It should have worked first hand. And I don't think the power is a problem.

Any ideas?
Thank you

Hi

I have a Dell Optiplex 980 SFF and want to replace the NVidia NVS 420 4 port video card (because I don’t have the adaptor cable and only need one monitor anyway) with a regular video card. (The onboard video does not work because it is an i7 processor).

Does any one know if this DELL part is compatible: Dell PN: XF27T - AMD Radeon HD 5450 512MB PCIe x16 DMS-59 Port Low Profile Video Card.

Thank you in advance
